Actually all you need to do to test it is really take one of the backup tapes (or the set of
backup tapes depending on your preferred method) that you have stored off site or in a fire proof
safe and try to restore it with the data. If there is an error in the recovery you will know
whether your backup strategy is working. I don't think you are supposed to re-enact a disaster.
