Thanks all for your comments

So if viruses are the problem maybe we should stop students saving .doc,
.xls and.mdb files in their home directory also as all of these can
contain macros which run viruses.

All I wanted was for students to submit a website by creating a zip file
of the folder, or otherwise they would need to individually submit every
file they used in the site, and I will need to create a directory for
each kid, save each file in the directory, just to check links work etc
- yet they cannot save or create a zip file on the system (even though
winzip is installed)It just seems petty to me that they can bring
whatever they like on their USB bar, yet cannot save the files THAT I
WANT THEM TO SAVE in their H:drive. Goodbye relevant lesson plan for
that day (X 2 classes)

I also thought it would be good to teach them how about zip archives -
how to create a zip file, how to extract etc but obviously I can't do
that!

File sharing RULEZ!!!! (but not here!)

Cheers (nearly wine time!)

I save that sort of wrath for obscenity, pornography, bullying and
wilful damage. For me renaming files doesn't rate all that important in
the overall scheme of things.
