[Year 12 IT Apps] PD for IT teachers

As I am teaching Access for the first time this year, I decided to find
a professional trainer to help me out. Quite a few companies were very
expensive but I did manage to locate one and negotiated an hourly rate
rather than cost per student. (I paid $90 per hour) After some initial
discussions with the trainer she was able to put together a
comprehensive double lesson which introduced the girls to this fairly
complex software. I decided to use some of my budget to pay her as a
guest speaker and she ran the class.  To actually observe it being
taught also doubled as ideal PD for me. The whole experience was well
worth it and even though I felt somewhat guilty about doing this I
decided that there is great pressure for IT teachers to know so many
different programs that this time I could be excused. Sarah (not sure of
her surname) not only engaged my students for the complete double she
was also able to offer an industry level of experience that she
discussed with the girls. 

I know that we cannot afford to take this approach as often as we would
like but I would recommend making budget allowances for such guest
speakers in the future.

Subject: [Year 12 IT Apps] Dreamweaver help again!

 

HELP!!
I am new to Dreamweaver and new to CSS and I have a problem! I have
copied some style sheets from the internet, and applied them to a basic
HTML page. In Dreamweaver, it appears that all of the colours, text etc
that is meant to change does change, but then when I view in browser, it
is still just a plain HTML page! What am I doing wrong!

BTW, do other schools recognise that IT teachers might need a bit more
PD than other teachers?
