The ijoomla magazine component is a magazine component made by ijoomla!
. It does many things but primarily gives you more control over your
page.

As I said Joomla is pretty simple until you start getting into
templating..then it can become hard. Graham has been an advocate for
Joomla I know and he does a good job.

His templates are generally made by rocket theme but there are many more
commerical templates available. I have spent the better part of the last
year learning to create templates for Joomla and it can be quite
complex.

There are plenty of nice Joomla sites around where people have created
there own templates, for example, http://www.everythingiphone.com/

Also compass designs has created an install for schools here :

http://www.compassdesigns.net/joomla-blog/joomla-news/how-to-set-up-a-joomla-website-for-a-school-in-under-30-seconds.html

The support from Joomla community is amazing and anyone who wants to can
get a site going pretty quickly

Cheers

Joomla isn't simple at the beginning, but it has excellent output. What
is the iJoomla magazine component? Graham Travers is a devotee of Joomla
and his efforts can be viewed at www.grahamtravers.com .

Laurie,

It is difficult to go past Joomla with iJoomla magazine component for a
complete solution. It is however a complex one to get your head around
if you want to completely customise the solution. Almost anyone can get
started if you are prepared to go with just a template.

For ease of use, complete customisation and full compliance with w3C
standards along with good support and "some" extensibility, try
cmsmadesimple @ www.cmsmadesimple.org.

A blog style cms which is quite easy to use is wordpress @
www.wordpress.org.

Id be happy to assist you in anyway with any of these if you need..just
lemme know!

This is completely off topic, but our librarian would like to set up our
college magazine on line. I thought a CMS (like PHPNuke, Drupal etc)
would be the solution but most that I've looked at seem very labour
intensive for the administrator to set up for end users and content
managers.

Can anybody recommend a system (not Moodle - we need gallery
facilities)?

Laurie
