We are of the belief that removing network access punishes the staff more than
the student. If a teacher has lessons planned around using the network, it is
a burden on them to organise and supervise alternative work.
In a similar vein, if the kid bullies by using notes on bits of paper do you
remove his/her pencil case and notebook?
It is in fact easier to build up evidence of the bullying. Students "hang
themselves" by continuing to use traceable emails. If you remove this, they
will resort to methods much harder to prove.
I also have instituted a policy that agrees with the others, remove the
"cyber" and treat it as any other form of harassment. My job is to provide
the evidence, student welfare decides on the punishment according to the
Student Code of Conduct.
