Hi Mark,
If you have quoted the Assessors' Report correctly (haven't got it to
hand), than I am astounded too as like you I understand. IPO charts
usually identify the data input (not a task), processes (tasks), output
(information). But perhaps it wasn't meant to be an IPO chart but a task
chart that shows tasks to be performend in the input, processing output
steps of the ips. Even so the suggested answer appears incorrect.
Acquire logo, find text, and find images are in the Acquisition step of
the IPS, they are not part of the input step. In the question cited, I
would expect an input task would be scan logo or upload digital camera
images ie the task of getting data into the computer. The suggested
answer of preview ads for the process task seems puzzling as previewing
could be done as part of processing eg preview the ad on screen to see
how it looks then edit to improve presentation. But it could mean
preview the ad to check its the one you want to print - that would fit
output I think.
Other ideas?

According to every source I've checked, the Input column is a list of data (eg. today's date and date of birth) and the Output column is the information produced (e.g. person's age). Only the PROCESS column contains a task - the algorithm for the calculation.
