Hi Mark and colleagues
Students must use software for this task component, however, the type of
software is not mandated.

Hmmm. I can read this in either of two ways, depending on whether the
word "can" or "appropriate" is stressed.
1) Students CAN use any appropriate software ... or they CAN choose not
to use software at all.
2) Students can use any APPROPRIATE software... but they must use
software.
Actually I'm still unsure... is using software mandated or not?
Does it mean...
1. "When retracing and analysing the decisions made and actions taken
when problem-solving, students may use appropriate software."
or
2. "Students must use appropriate software to retrace and analyse the
decisions made and actions taken when problem-solving."
Sorry. I'm in a pernickety mood. Newsradio said it would be fine in
Melbourne so I didn't wear my wet weather gear when I rode in through
the rain on the BMW this morning. Grrr.
