Hi Stephen and colleagues
The list of software functions is available at:
http://vels.vcaa.vic.edu.au/assessment/maps/maps_domain/ict/level6.html#
H2N400033
(yes, and they are PDF). An abridged article regarding software
functions for IT applications is in this month's issue of the VCAA
Bulletin.
While schools have recently received the IT Assessment Handbook it has
not been published on the website. Shortly VCAA will be posting both the
study design (2007 - 2010) and the accompanying assessment handbook.
There are always tensions when two different study designs and
assessment handbooks are on our website for one study, so we typically
wait until early December (near the end of the current accreditation
period) to replace the old documentation with the new.
RE: the assessment handbook, because most outcomes have changed, there
have been corresponding changes in the performance descriptors. I would
advise treating the document as new rather than trying to identify only
the changes.
Regards
Paula

Can't find the digital copiers of these docs online ??
Anyone know where they are ?
How tedious for every teacher around the state to have to extract from
pdf, reformat and then check whether this is a change or a reststement,
and then integrate into the study design....
Why not have a wiki online which always shows the current version and
also allows users to see the alterations that have been made...
OR at least maintain a curent version of all documentation online and
just alert us to which page(s) have changed....

Software tools and functions
In the reaccredited VCE Information Technology Study
Design, students studying IT applications (Units 3 and 4)
are required to use at least three software tools when solving
information problems. Additional tools are required to develop
a project management plan and a visual representation.
In Unit 3, Outcome 1 students use database management
software to create a relational database. In addition they must
use a software tool to create a project management report that
includes the management plan and the tracking of progress.
Appropriate software types include, for example, project
management, spreadsheets, word processing.
For Outcome 2, students use web authoring software
to create a prototype website. Additional software, such as
image editing, can be used to support the development of the
prototype.
