Dear colleagues

Can I refer you to a Frequently Asked Questions segment on the VELS
website that addresses some of the concerns expressed about how/where
students acquire and apply ICT knowledge and skills in VELS (questions:
Can we still include standalone ICT classes within our school program?;
and What does interdisciplinary mean for ICT?

http://vels.vcaa.vic.edu.au/about/faq.html#22

Hope this helps.

Regards

Fiona,
No...no way...are you telling me that some teachers don't see the
relevance of ICT in their KLA? Surely not...they will all happily
integrate it into their units....won't they?

On a serious note, Fiona, thanks for your input. I suspected this sort
of thing was going to happen...but then again, if they do not want IT
teachers teaching the basics....then....where are students going to get
their ICT skills?????

Regards,
Frank

there is no place in their reports to include IT as a cross curricula
subject because, wait for it, it (the IT VELS) is all about constructing
web pages and things like that. When I asked them about IT for
communicating I got told they couldn't get it to apply to English!!
