Have a 300Mb limit here for teachers and a 50Mb limit for student personal
files (not including the moodle infonet work submissions).
Virtually all staff have notebooks and a growing number have CD burring
capacity.
We are reducing our involvement in backing up or storing their data.
Principle is that we backup the data that has been contributed to the shared
curriculum resources. Anything that is not yet part of this organizational
resource is the teachers own responsibility.

Esko
We had the same problem. Just these holidays, we implemented what I consider
reasonable restrictions: 100Mb for students, 500MB for teachers. The limits
should depend on the number of students and teachers and the size of the
HDD.
We immediately found that there were about 6 teachers who were way over the
limit, one had over 5 GB.
The new policy will stop them saving anywhere on the server until their
total files are under the limit. One teacher cleared 1 GB in a day - no
problem once there is an incentive.
These 6 have been advised to delete old files and burn important files to a
CD.

Hi,
We are running out of space on our server due to a policy of
unlimited space given to teachers. I'd appreciate it if anyone
could pass on what the policy is at their school re teacher usage
of hard disk space on the server. What is a reasonable amount these
days for an average teacher? 50 MB? 500MB
Thanks.
