Hi back
I will admit that a $10,00 colour laser printer will probably produce
better results than a $200 colour inkjet on normal plain photocopy paper
for text and spot colour graphics, but as soon as you shift to properly
coated gloss paper the laser
is completely outclassed by the inkjet for continuous tone photographs.
The dyes or pigment particles in the ink used in inkjets is much finer
than the toner particles used in laser printers so inkjets are capable
of finer detail and finer tone gradations.
Current photo quality inkjets are capable of producing results on
appropriate glossy paper indistinguishable from silver halide prints and
I would like to see the laser printer that can produce 2m by 33cm
panorama prints like my trusty Epson 1290 regardless of price.
