I would disagree with you a little on some of your arguements. The rest I will take with me to my meeting with the finance gurus next week.
I think it is good teaching practice for teachers to research possible sites for students. Self directed searches are good for those idependent learners. It's when you asked a student what are you looking for and the answer comes back "stuff" - o.k "stuff on what". There is just too much available information. I am trying to get teachers to think about the information they want the students to obtain - either through the questions they set, the sites they direct them to or a combination of both. The reality is that I spend a fair bit of time chucking students off the internet because when faced with the entire the thing they sneek off and play games.
