Hi Oliver,
Actually , I used the schoolies holiday project as a learning activity in class from the point of view of the students along the lines :
1. What are the steps/tasks in organising a schoolies holiday ?
This caused all sorts of arguments about dependencies, timelines, critical paths etc.
2. Once we agreed to tasks along the lines of
a. Decide who is coming
b. Research possible destinations/availability of properties
c. Decide timelines on collecting deposits/signing contracts/balance of money
d. Collect money and make relevant payments
e. Plan transport
f. Decide what to take to the holiday and what to buy at the destination
g. Plan contingency for emergencies -- contact people, phone numbers, money etc
h. Organise departure, cleaning, returning keys etc.
i. Organise collection of security bond and refund to individuals
This really got them going as they were actually planning this activity in real like as we were thrashing it out in class as a learning activity. As I mentioned last year, of all the project management activities I had used over the years to engage the students this was the most successful by far.
As for the SAC. I used an extension of this scenario from the point of view of the landlord running a business as follows:
The owner of holiday accommodation rents to schoolies. He has 3 properties ( this becomes the "properties" table with its primary key, property features, location etc for each property ) and there is a second table called "bookings". This way a ( 1 to many ) relational database is created of each property having one or more bookings .
I have attached the SAC and hope you find it useful.

Last year I remember people discussing a very successful project management
task where the students organised their schoolies vacation/activities.
Had a bit of a look around and can't find the task.
If anyone has the task or something very similar it would be much
appreciated
