AJAX, well, yes, is a washing powder
but it also stands for
Asynchronous JavaScript + XML

it is the technology behind google suggest and gmail - basically making the 
web run faster
"An Ajax application eliminates the start-stop-start-stop nature of 
interaction on the Web by introducing an intermediary — an Ajax engine — 
between the user and the server"

So, JavaScript just became more important
