Hi Graham, Karl here, Danuta posted the e-mail but had to use my edumail account, for some reason sending from her account didn't work.
No vacancies next year that I'm aware of but we may have a part time position .6 coming up depending upon our student numbers. The reaccreditation is going to stretch us fairly thin and we expect numbers to be up a little.
DECV advertises the same as other state schools so keep an eye on the vacancies or give me a call from time to time on 84800173 if you feel inclined.
Give Wayne Hill (staffing principal) a call on 84800053 and let him know your background.
Regards,
Karl Blake

Hi All, sorry about the blatant advertisement but we still find that many schools and IT teachers don't know that we exist.
DECV (Distance Education Centre Victoria) is a state government school located in Thornbury. We provide courses and support for students who normally reside in Victoria (students of state schools or private schools) who cannot access the course that they would like to do for a variety of reasons, timetable clashes, class can't run due to low numbers etc. Our courses are online and also provided on CD to each student.
If you have students who you can't provide Information Systems, IP&M, year 11 IT or Cert II and Cert III Multimedia for next year then you might consider enrolling them with DECV for one subject.
There is a cost for state school students of $150 which can either be paid by the student or the school. Private schools incur a fee of $500 to cover both semesters. In theory the school is supposed to lose one fifth of the funding for a student doing one subject at DECV but I am told that in practice this does not occur and the school is fully funded.
We have had excellent results with out students, last year 39% of students sitting the IS exam scored 40 or more and 36% of IP&M students did the same.
We have three experienced teachers in our IT team and students can phone any of us on our 1800 number at any time (9am to 4pm) or e-mail questions etc.
If you would like further information give one of us a call on the following numbers.
Danuta Baran-Tait 84800231
Karl Blake 84800173
Trevor Molloy 84800170
Regards,
Danuta Baran-Tait
