[Year 12 IPM] IPM New to list

I don't have an issue with combined classes, in some sense it can
benefit the kids. At two of my past schools I have run combined classes
because of timetabling clashes (evil timetablers ...).
What I do have a problem with is the administration writing it down as
one teaching allotment rather than two. You still have two courses that
you have to structure, assess and write exams for. In a sense combining
the curriculum of two subjects into one class and trying to get a
meaningful structure and lessons is perhaps harder and more challenging.

Some of the class are only YR10s and I believe far from ready
for IPM. Numbers were such that the subject wasn't initially going to
run; however, sufficient students were available to do it as a combined
class.
It ran as a combined class this year.

Well good luck Robert. I'd be really interested in knowing how
your DP taught this and what strategies he/she used to combine 2 classes
which, as has already been pointed out, have quite different
philosophies underpinning them. It seems like another case of
administrative expediency replacing kids' education and learning.
