Andrew,
I was intending to talk about Sharepoint at the recent VITTA conference
until my father-in-law passed away the night before. I did, however,
manage to make up a powerpoint as I have set up in about 10 schools so
far in my role as TSSP. Download the powerpoint from;
http://web.mrc.vic.edu.au/TSI/Shared%20Documents/Sharepoint%20Solution.p
pt
It is also on the VITTA CD. Happy to assist with any issue may have....
John Walsh

G'day Andrew,
Moodle is also a portal/communication tool, but edu focused. It is
probably better suited to a educational environment and will readily
integrate and run on most school file servers. Some are even running
this on the VITTA openlab server http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moodle
This is not to say that schools have been able to make good use of other
packages or even built their own. I guess what counts is how teachers
use this any virtual learning environment with their classes. There is a
list of things to look out for on this page

hi cyberpeople
we are thinking of installing sharepoint on our network for file-sharing
and the like
can anyoine out there provide some general feedback about it?
how does it compare to other systems, such as moodle or myinternet?
how long does it take to setup?
can staff and student profiles be imported from elsewhere?
anything else you can think of?
thx
