The VCAA defines validation as "To check that data input to a computer
system is of an appropriate form type for processing and within
acceptable boundaries"
The solution to the 2003 IARTV exam say validation is "Checking that
the
entered data is the right data type and is reasonable - note
verification is the process that checks accuracy and is not the same as
validation."
Is that how most of you interpret "validation"?
There have been a couple of recent sample exam questions that define it
as checking reasonableness rather than accuracy.
I've always given validation a wider purview. What do other folk
think?
