[Gifted and Talented] Melb Uni IT info session, VITTA Student Conference, Green Screen pd, Conference

Greetings.

There are some activities you may be interested in telling your students
about, or in taking a groups of students to. You may also be interested in
attending the Green Screen activity.  The VITTA Annual Conference and the
Technical Conference information is now available on-line as well. 

1.       Free Information Session at Melbourne University for ICT students
and teachers: 

Focus on IT:

Melbourne University, supported by VITTA  is offering students and teachers
the chance to find out more about study options in IT.
Hear from current students, academic staff, recent graduates and industry
representatives what it is like to study Information Technology at Melbourne
University and about the career opportunities available to graduates.

This is a free information evening so tell your students about it or bring
your class along.

When: Tuesday,  May 28, 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm

2.       VITTA Student Conference

My Direction: VITTA Student Conference

The purpose of the

Student Conference - My Direction is for students preparing for exams in IT
Apps, SD, VET IT or IDM and to promote ICT learning and career
possibilities.  For many students this is timely as they will be making
career decisions in term 3 and term 4. The

Student Conference - My Direction is for students in Year 12, down to Year
9. Students will learn about courses of study, prerequisites and possible
directions for study from an upper secondary, tertiary and industry
perspective. The

Student Conference - My Direction will be conducted at the new RMIT building
in Swanston St.

Please encourage as many students as you can to attend. 

When: Sunday, June 2, 9:00 am until 1:30 pm

Where: RMIT Academic Building, Building 80, 445 Swanston St, Melbourne

Cost: The cost for entry is $49.  Free entry for teachers with six or more
students attending.

3.       Green Screen professional development activity

Green Screen in the Classroom Part 1

The activity involves setting up the green screen, lighting, eliminating
shadows. Editing with iMovie. Practical ideas on setting up and using studio
technology.

Where: Coburg Senior High School, Alva Grove, Coburg

Cost: $80 members, $100 non-members

Green Screen in the Classroom Part 2 builds on this activity and will be
held at the same venue on June 13.

4.       VITTA Annual Conference 2013

Provoking Learning with ICT

The 2013 VITTA Annual Conference and Expo is set for August again this year
and is already aspiring to be the best ever. 

Provoking Learning with ICT highlights the innovation, creativity and
achievement of teachers and students locally and nationally in and beyond
the classroom.

5.       VITTA Technical Conference 2013

Technical Conference 

The technical conference program is dedicated to the needs of technicians
and ICT managers in schools with its focus to support schools in taking
maximum advantage of their ICT infrastructure. 

Sessions are specifically tailored for the school technician and technical
manager in the areas of IT management, infrastructure, networking and
deployment.
