[Gifted and Talented] ICT Careers Expo 2011 - Wednesday 27th July

Hi everyone (and apologies for the cross-posts),

 

ICT Week is coming up on soon on July 25 to July 31. This year VITTA, in
conjunction with the Victorian Government and the ACS are promoting
excellence in ICT education and ICT career pathways. and there are plenty of
exciting activities planned to celebrate the use of ICT in all facets of
society. Make sure you and your school community gets involved by
participating in the following activities or by running something in your
own school and letting us know!

 

 

ICT & Careers Expo

Did you know that the IT industry is one of the fastest growing career
markets in Australia? Come along and find out more about how you can achieve
your career goals at the 2011 ICT & Careers Expo.  From Fashion, to Sport,
to Music, to Programming and much more - we have all the answers!

 

 

Date: Wesnesday 27th July

Venue: BMW Edge Theatre, Federation Square

Time: 10:00am - 2:00pm

Cost: FREE

 

 

Last year we had a fantastic response for students and teachers alike. This
year's program looks to be even better.

 

We have organised lots of exciting items for this event - obviously  the
main focus for your students will be the exhibition hall - where we have
over 25 exhibitors from the tertiary sector and industry.  The Expo is
really a great opportunity for students to get all the information they need
in one location, as opposed to visit numerous open days. Students will be
able to get specific course advice, course materials and will be in a
position to come away from the event with a comparison between the courses
on offer.

 

A highlight is a live link up between Australian students and Japanese
students from Kawasaki facilitated by Thornbury High School students and
which will be filmed for Channel 31

 

In addition to the exhibitors, we have over 25 sessions on topics from game
development to careers in multimedia.  There will be sessions on Earn while
you learn: Industry based learning and Developing original games for a world
market

All students need to do is to register and then bring their printed ticket
along on the day to place in the prize box. There are other 'on-the-day'
prizes as well!  

 

Events like this one are really important and are a great way that we can
promote our subject area and increase our enrolments - hope to see you all
there!
