Many of you would have seen this new resource go up a few weeks back. But for those who haven't seen it yet, let me encourage you to take a look. AATE strongly supported the work and I'd be interested in your views and thoughts.

English for the Australian Curriculum
AATE is delighted to present a new Foundation to Year 10 online resource, produced by English teachers for English teachers, to support the teaching and learning of English in the Australian Curriculum.
English for the Australian Curriculum supports primary and secondary educators with:
·         full mapping to the Australian Curriculum, providing 850 new elaborations of curriculum content across the strands of language, literature and literacy

·         links to Curriculum content descriptions, cross-curriculum priorities and general capabilities

·         48 classroom learning sequences for secondary, 12 sequences in each unit of work, ready for classroom use

·         a dynamic collection of digital and multi-modal resources, interactive worksheets, rich assessment tasks and links to other website resources.



Years 7 to 10
·         four empowering literature-based units of work

·         facilitate the development of critical literacy skills and ethical understandings across a range of social media and authentic texts

·         themes include consumer culture, protest, and living with trash.

·         five media-rich units of work, including in depth literature studies

·         literacy and language learning supported by geography, science and history

·         themes include Dreaming stories and folktales, life in Ancient Rome, and human impact on Macquarie Island.

·         three units of work drawing on a rich selection of children’s literature

·         units link an engagement with English and literacy to the learning areas of geography, science and mathematics

·         themes include patterns in nature, literature and children’s lives, and reading the landscape.

This national initiative has been produced in partnership with Education Services Australia and the joint associations of the Australian Association for the Teaching of English (AATE), the Australian Literacy Educators’ Association (ALEA) and the Primary English Teaching Association Australia (PETAA), representing more than 10,000 teachers of English.
