Hello,
with reference to resources: in NSW, HSC students will be studying a
common content area called 'Belonging' from next year. I am currently
writing a chapter for a text book on 'Belonging' and the book should
be out by June/July. I am writing on a text called Swallow the Air by
Tara June Winch published in 2006 by University of Queensland Press.
The author, Winch, is a young woman who won the David Unaipon Award
for Indigenous Writers in 2004.
You might be interested in Winch's book as a text on individuality
and belonging and later in the year, our text book as a resource.
I am an ex head teacher English who joined together with two other
head teachers English to write text books. You can contact us through
www.thelearningcurve.net.au or via this email.
I also wrote a book called Language, Context and Meaning Book 1 for
Heinemann published in 1999 and another text for Heinemann called
English A - Z published in 2002 (a useful glossary of terms). Another
one I wrote for them was In fact: reading and viewing everyday texts
- 1998.
These may be of use to you for resources or for your students.
Regards everyone
Lyndall
