I believe one of the best goals the VIT can achieve is to initiate
processes which consolidate our proession. By that I mean, help bring us
together as one Teaching profession.
One easy but incredibly useful first step would be to give each member
a VIT email address. A day's work by a web-developer using free sotware
on the VIT servers would mean that every member has a VIT email address.
With the secure allocation of VIT email addresses, (easy to arrange, and
there is no doubt who the person is, and that they *are* a professional)
means that all Victorian Teachers could then log-into, for example, the
VCAA website for updates and an 'ask-an-expert' discussion page, the VIT
website to maybe vote on a professional issue, or even just banks etc etc
wishing to offer teachers class-resources without copyright problems etc.
And, perhaps for the first time, the VIT could email all of it's members.
And once again, one can't stress how professionally useful a VIT email
address could be. From training to resources, I believe this simple step
of giving every teacher in Victoria (and only teachers) a VIT mail address
would be an *outstanding way to 'enhance the profession' in future.
