[elearning] real time reporting

Hello colleagues
May I ask if any schools out there use real-time reporting as an alternative to semester reports?
By real-time reporting I refer to teachers putting grades and comments for each student tasks as they are completed on an on-line portal which parents can immediately access.
And then not requiring paper (or otherwise) detailed semester reports.

This request is with the possibility of a visit by myself and some of my management team.
