[elearning] Strategies for dealing with communications overload?

Thanks Roland; this is one approach that we are considering. However, I'm
interested in two things:

   - If any schools have developed explicit policies, strategies or
   techniques around communication, and what these look like, and
   - If this 'broad spectrum' approach actually makes the problem (of
   information overload) worse.
