I notice that the ACCE has just anounced the 2011 award winner of for
Outstanding Leadership in Use of ICT in Education.
Can I be the first to pass on my online contratulations to Dr Donna Gronn
from the Australian Catholic University who was nominated by ICTEV (the
Victorian ACCE member) for this award.
A paragraph from her award nomination reads
*Donna is a champion of ICT educators, be they innovators or novices. In her
own institution she leads **Professional learning for her academic
colleagues and has held the position of Staff eLearning Mentor for the
Faculty of Education for three years. Donna presents to teachers on ICT in
Education at schools and teacher conferences across the world and has had
three papers accepted at international conferences this year, including two
at ISTE2011. The impact that she had had on ICT in education at all levels
is immeasurable. In Australia we like to use the term, ‘a quiet achiever’.
Donna is just that. She is selfless in her endeavors and shies from the
limelight; her greatest reward is seeing the success of a student or fellow
educator, or seeing a job well done. She is the last person to stand up and
take credit. These are the qualities of a great leader and a great human
being.*

Many years ago, I first met Donna on the National ASISTM game programming
cluster when I was on the VITTA state council. Despite the huge distances
that divided the team memers, she provided valuable support as a critical
friend, firmly guiding us towards our group goals. I had the pleasure again
of working alonside her at the ACEC2010 Melbourne conference hosted by the
ICTEV.
It pleases me greatly to see the recognition given by us for her work and
support . Well done and bravo Donna! :-)
