I have just been playing with Google docs as a way of managing something in my real life.
Sharing documents between committee members of a club.

I am very impressed

Yes it works well on iPhone ..except that neither it nor safari on a Mac can display a Google doc .. we get server errors.
All other documents seem to be fine.
It displays pdf's correctly wear as IE seven doesn't

all in all well worth it as a way of the future

Hi all... not sure if it has already been mentioned in this thread or not, but Monash is also moving to moodle (and leaving BlackBoard behind). At the moment they have both moodle and Blackboard operating but lecturers are being encouraged to move their courses to moodle, and eventualy BlackBoard will be removed. My son is just finishing his BBIS degree at Clayton and all but one of his lecturers this semester has used moodle rather than BB. His comment? moodle is "pretty cool" and beats BB in every respect! "Especially cos it is free too" He also said the old email they had was very basic and pretty useless and as he is already a gmail user for his personal email he said the move to google mail will be great for students. Strange that we had this conversation last week and then this thread came along...

Cheers

What about student monitoring - ie. does Gmail have a logging and / or
filtering ability? Can you see student's emails if they behave
inappropriately?
