[elearning] electronic whitebord

Hi all I hope this is the right list to ask such a question.
One of the teachers would like to use the electronic whiteboard to classify items into groups under a heading. If the student places the wrong item it would reject it. She went to a PD and saw this happening. She spoke about creating a"container". I believe there is no such function in the smartboard software so I assume the presenter used other software. Such as excel? Does anyone know if there is any other easy way of doing this?
