Hi Tim, we have a use a Trotec speedy 300 for all our Dept needs, they might be more expensive that other brands but we have had ours for about 5 years now and haven’t faulted it. We mainly use acrylic, wood products, fabric, cardboard and paper. Service once a year, and with regular cleaning it’s been great. There were some great education packages around with them we got ours. We mainly use illustrator, solidworks, fusion 360 as platforms. I would buy another one of these, there are mostly likely others cheaper and do the same job, but I like the support from Trotec and the add on’s they have.

Subject: [Design and Technology] Laser Cutter/Engraver
Hi all
I am looking for some advice regarding a Laser cutter/engraver for use in a Design Tech workshop. I am trying to work up a proposal to present to or Business Manager and would like to know what others would recommend.
We are currently looking at Prytec, LST, or Koenig machines and around the 900 x 600 size. I’m interested to hear from you about brands, technology, size, price, software?
Which machine would you recommend? Which wouldn’t you recommend?
What do you wish you’d done if there was a next time.
Looking forward to a flood of helpful information.
Thanks in hopeful anticipation
Regards
