We have middle school classes capped at 20, although we aim for 18

Our junior school classes are also capped at 20 but usually run at 16.

The workshop is 'aged' and was designed originally for 15 students. We have 8 benches plus a large teachers bench which also gets used. We have made it a priority to re-organise the workshop (moving machines, cupboards, building wall racks etc) to maximise our space.

The Onguard website has recommended sizes around benches and machines. From memory the distances are around 0.8to 1m around vices, and roughly 1m around machines. We have taped out the distances on the floor with industrial hazard tape.

Hi all.
Presently we are undergoing some changes at school and our wood tech class sizes have increased dramatically. Can I have some indication of what other schools’ class sizes are capped at for yrs 7-9  please as I am really concerned about OH&S issues and the size of the room as we can only fit 10 rectangular benches in the space. Also, is there a specific distance between benches that is documented that can be used as a guide?
