[Design and Technology] Units 1 & 2 PD&T

First time teaching Units 1 & 2 but I am working with another teacher with several years experience taking Units 1 & 2

Is it acceptable and does it fit in with the Study design for students to work in pairs for both Units 1 & 2 producing a single product by the end of Unit 1 and then again working in the same pairs to produce the additional
'duplicate' product in Unit 2. Over the year they will only develop 1 folio  and one product per student.

My understanding is they work on an individual product and create this along with the folio by the end of Unit 1 and then in unit 2 work collaboratively to develop another product.
