I would recommend looking into the Arduino(Genuino outside of US). This would then provide a platform for the students to take things further.

Morning all,
I’m currently investigating some STEM projects for a new year 9 semester based elective that we are introducing next year. So far I am thinking about doing some Lego Mindstorms EV3 robotics, a speedboat project (made with a polystyrene hull) that someone did as a workshop last year at the DATTA conference, and possibly a mini speaker (with or without amp) that could be plugged into an IPhone/IPod etc. Any other projects that anyone wants to share would be more than welcome. We also have a 3D printer so I’ve got options there too. My systems engineering knowledge is basic/limited but I’m a quick and willing learner so any Upskilling advice/offers is welcome.
