Australian Technologies Curriculum published
Hi all
ACARA has just published the Technologies curriculum on their Australian Curriculum website - it is now 'available for use'. The Council of federal, state and territory education ministers have agreed to publish curricula for a number of learning areas, even though these haven't been officially endorsed yet. For the Technologies curriculum, follow this link:

Use the links on the side and under the Technologies title to navigate through the curriculum documentation.

*         If you click on the Organisation link, then on Design and Technologies - you will find really useful information about how the Design and Technologies area is structured, the strands (note that these have changed since the previous version) and definitions of the different context areas, and different types of solutions students need to develop

*         The Design and Technologies link on the right below the Technologies title will give you the specifics about the learning that is required at each level

Please pass these links on to other Technology teachers in your school - including those responsible for the Digital Technologies learning area.

In Victoria, the VCAA adapt and interpret the Australian Curriculum through AusVELS - this is the version of the Australian Curriculum that most Victorian schools will need to follow. Their timeline is as follows:

*         Publication of remaining AusVELS learning areas, including Technologies by VCAA - Term 3, 2014

*         Implementation in Victorian schools - 2015
In the meantime, teachers should prepare for the curriculum changes by becoming familiar with the content, structure and terminology of ACARA's published Technologies curriculum.
