Hello
We are currently in the process of buying from Objective 3d. It is an enclosed 3d printer which allows for multiple materials to be printed at once, not just acrylics. It also allows for moving parts whilst printing, which is great for systems engineering and manufacturing gearboxes which work once finished. It will also print from most file formats which utilise 3d rendering.
The beauty of it is, it is the size of an A3 printer and can be used in any classroom as there are no fumes.
The website is http://www.objective3d.com.au/objet-30-pro---new.html
There not as cheap as most 3d printers, but as with anything, you get what you pay for. They will also cut Educators a break on the price.
Might be worth a look.

Re: 3D Printer
Great technology - just a bit fragile.
I'm lookoing at paying a bit more for a Mojo Desktop 3D printer through Tasman Machinery, Cheltenham. It costs all up with supplies $12,000
Or budgets for 2013v are still not decided because of funding cuts to education. I'm preferring to not go for the open 3D printers myself. I like the closed unit because of security of the investment.
Good luck with it all.

Hi all,
We are looking at purchasing a 3d printer for the school and incorporating it into the Technology Art, Vis Comm & Maths curriculum.
We are running ProDesktop CAD at the moment but are hoping to upgrade to Pro Engineer/Creo in the near future.
Any help or recommendations on this subject would be welcome. If you have any amazing projects that you are doing with the students and would be happy to share we would love some inspiration.
Thank you
