Dear colleague

On page 34 of today's the age (melbourne) magazine - there is a
comparison of ten reusable coffee cups (accompanied by photographs of
each).

Suggested activities could include:

Develop a design brief that could have preceded the design and
development of the reusable coffee cup.

Develop criteria for evaluation of the reusable coffee cups. Weight the
criteria in terms of their importance - justify the weighting.

What is the relationship between the shape of the parts of each coffee
cup and its function?

Cover over the testing section at the left hand top of the page. Ask
students what tests could be used to evaluate the cups.

Why has each cup been made out of particular material/s? What are the
environmental impacts of each cup through its life cycle?

What are the social implications of reusable cups?

Do you agree with the cup selected as 'our pick'? Give reasons.

Others may wish to add other suggestions to the above.

Regards, Lorraine.
