The DATTA Vic 2009 Conference is coming up this Friday 22 May and Saturday 23
May.
There are still some spaces left in a range of workshops.

Friday session one has an alternate energy workshop presented by Time Beare
from Northland Secondary College. Tim will take delegates through the alternate
energy program he runs with his middle years students, with demonstrations and
notes. The workshop also features Anna McDonald from rezeko.com, pioneers of
neighbourhood solar energy networks and sponsor of the CERES trailer that
visits schools. She will be presenting information about the immediate future
of solar power in communities and schools.

Also in the Friday morning session is Jacinta O’Leary’s presentation on using
ARED software to build your own e-learning resources from material you
currently use. This workshop is also repeated on Saturday session three.

Friday session three also includes the Re Engineering Australia F1 model car
challenge, a spectacular workshop with CO2 cars recently seen at Jeff’s Shed.

On Saturday session one there are still some spaces in Graeme Wiggins workshop,
using laser cutting as an easy and cost effective way to produce complex shapes
from flat materials you learn how to introduce this exciting and versatile
technology into your classroom even if you don’t have a laser cutter.
Participants will design a small plywood or acrylic project using Adobe
Illustrator and then have their project cut onsite by Alfex CNC and Intellecta
Technologies. Session includes Illustrator Tutorial.

There is still room in Saturday’s solar vehicle workshops, a series of three
workshops where delegates produce solar powered boats and cars.

Space is also still available in the three textiles workshops on the Saturday.
All four presenters received excellent feedback at their 2008 workshops. This
year you can join Debbie I’Anson in the Easter Chook workshop, Rowan Jones in
the teaching new tricks workshop and Michelle Goode and Lyn Schroeder in the
changing face of fabrics workshop.
