I recall from sessions with the new study design that the ERD was removed from this study design.

Kind regards

Hi All
I did not find it in last year's draft either. So, Gary and I couldn't see it. I think it was removed.

As far as I know VCAA does not have a simple added / removed document to quickly understand what is removed from SD.

Would be nice to hear some other voices on this just to know if I'm right or wrong.

Hi Sylvia,

I had the same thoughts. A quick search through the current study design revealed no references to ERDs for me (maybe I missed it?), so I'm not going to stress over it. A little late now, anyway.

Hi all
this has worried me as I thought ER diagrams is no longer in the study design. Can you all confirm please. A little stressed as I just brushed over it

Hi Litsa

It would be unwise to use MicroSloth (hat tip to Mike Brooks) access notation as not everyone uses that - SQL is non proprietary

However when marking exams one would expect that not all teachers would teach students the non Proprietary notation and maybe it MIGHT be unfair to penalise students for that

It behoves us to ensure we do not just fall into the MicroSloth trap - stand firm Litsa, be generic and open (source) and remind your students that SQL is better even if MicroSloth has a more usable interface…..

Hello - 😊

I had a question from a student when responding to ERD questions.

Is there a notation that is enforced or will either be acceptable?

The textbook shows MS-Access screen shots and sometimes, the official notation is used in past exams, etc.

Is either okay - I said it was 🍄

Thank so much,
