[Informatics] Codifying Data

Another quick example

You might codify a response to a Yes/No questions as being

0 – No
1 – Yes

I find the purpose is to quantify qualitative data more than anything else to then perform some sort of data analysis.

My 2c.

Hi all,

Sorry if these questions have been asked before.

First time teaching Informatics (did teach Applications previously) and I was wondering how people taught codifying data? Also as I have never had to do this before does any one have an ELI5 (explain like I am 5) version of what codifying qualitative data is. Any resources would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Ben.
