[Informatics] Informatics Performance Descriptors Question

I have taken it to be manipulation of the data by codifying quantitative data into categories to make it easier to refute or support their hypothesis. A physical method is creating a range of 4 main categories and categorising the data to make it easier for conclusions. It may also be if data has names of it removing the names and creating a code to de-identify the data.

What are some appropriate ‘physical techniques’ that are applicable to this descriptor?
