[Informatics] Predecessor, dependency question - Gantt charts

Milestones are just used to help ensure that a project is running on time and consequently within budget. They have no duration and are used by the project manager to see how the project is progressing.

Thanks Mark,

Only significant in that I hate giving wrong advice to students.

I don't think it's a significant philosophical drama, but...

I'd say one task can only be dependent on another task. A milestone is not a task; it's a psychological event (it just happens with no resources or time allocation.)

So, I'd connect a dependent task to the task preceding the milestone - the one whose termination triggered the milestone.

Or not.

Hi All,

I have told my student that dependencies should not be linked to milestones (no duration, but a key date), but to tasks, and now I am second guessing myself.
Can a milestone have a dependent task? and can a milestone be a predecessor to another task. I think not.

Any consensus?
