Hi Liz
There are good resources that have been developed by the DLTV for their Resource Kit which is able to be purchased. QATS is another high quality resource that can be used to supplement your classroom activity.
Both of these resources have sample SACs for Units 1 to 4 as well as sample exams and are useful for preparing your own resources for each year. I would encourage each teacher to evaluate the DLTV Resource Kit and / or QATs to see if they sufficiently cover the Key Knowledge and Key Skills for each subject.
I am aware that if you are using the Nelson Cengage textbook there are online resources available for teachers which includes sample SACs, topic tests and exams.
We discourage the sharing of these SACs on this forum specifically because they would represent a breach of copyright.
Please note that any personally created resources for this forum can be accessed online by a student without a password if they are keen so share with discretion.
Lucas

Does anyone have a SAC they’d be willing to share? For unit 3
Pretty please ;-)

Yes Liz you’ve pretty much nailed it, give them a case study setup with some data, they design and create the solution in a database along with some test data and tables and then report on it.

Thanks Stuart – very much appreciated
I’m signed up to the training day re the SAT. My school is supportive ☺
I have more questions about the SAC (unit 3)….my reading of it sounds like I give the students a scenario, they then design and create a solution (so it’s quite practical) – then secondly they have a to create a user flow diagram for the same or different scenario with an online element.
The sample SAC in the edulists, is a series of questions more like the exam. Am I right in my interpretation???
Thanks anyone & everyone– sorry if this is a silly question!

First point of call would be the study design http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Pages/vce/studies/computing/informatics.aspx
1. How much time do people give to the SATs? (Hours would be helpful) I’d recommend going to the SAT Informatics training day session Tuesday 21st February - it’s free so hopefully your school won’t bat an eye lid about you attending http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Pages/vce/pd/2017-School-assessed-Task-Professional-Learning-Sessions-form.aspx
2. How much time for a SAC? How many SACs do schools do and does anyone have any examples they would be willing to share?
Here is how I do it:
Unit 3 SAC One – Eight periods
Unit 3 SAT Part One - Sessions throughout the second half of Semester one
Unit 4 SAT Part Two - Sessions throughout the first half of Semester two
Unit 4 SAC 2 – 2 periods (written test)
You can get sample SACs from http://www.edulists.com.au/informatics/index.htm
I’d highly recommend you check out http://vceit.com/wp/informatics/ as it goes over everything in the study design, with corresponding resources – it has been a real lifesaver for me in terms of knowing where to begin, best of all, it’s free! (However a donation keeps the wheels turning – there is a link on the page)
Hope this helps you get started! ☺

Thanks Frank
Definitely helpful for me!
A couple of questions:
1. How much time do people give to the SATs? (Hours would be helpful)
2. How much time for a SAC? How many SACs do schools do and does anyone have any examples they would be willing to share?
Thanks all, sorry if these are silly questions!

Hi everyone
I’ve just been drafted to teach Informatics and am is desperate need of advice! I’m completely new to VCE (have taught ICT to years 12/13 in the UK).
If anyone can give me pointers about timings/ order, SACs & SATs etc I would be truly grateful.
Anything and everything appreciated ☺
