I am with Mark on this one.
If you do not have enough students for both the units 1/2 and units 3/4 then
run just the units 3/4 and offer Info and SD in alternate years.

Subject: Re: [Informatics] Combined Y11IT and Informatics Classes
Hi all Informatics teachers,
I feel that I may be in the same situation for 2017, as based on questions I
have asked my Year 11 students (5 currently), none are going onto complete
Informatics.
I am fearful that both Computing and Informatics in the coming years may
have to be combined for it to continue.
Any advice on how best to tackle teaching combined classes would be helpful.
Kind Regards,

Units 1 and 2 are not substantially different in content or level of
difficulty to a lovechild of Info+SD.
Schools who can't run all units will often offer Info one year, and SD the
next. Then back to Info.
Kids can benefit because they can claim a unit 3/4 subject during their
relatively-quiet time in year 11.

Mark

Wouldn't you then run the risk of not running Informatics the year after?

Hello fellow Informaniacs,
Admin at our school have decided to merge Y11IT and Informatics classes next
year. I am wondering if anyone who has taught a merged class could share
their experiences either on list or off? Would also welcome other thoughts
about it from interested parties.
