[Informatics] Informatics Exam Comments

Most of my guys seemed reasonably ok with the exam from discussion I had with them afterwards.  That being said, a lot of them think they do well even when they don’t :-p

I don’t think it was too dissimilar to the VCAA practice exam but would like to see more practice material available for the subject.  We had a few exams, and looked back at previous IT Apps exams as well but determined that they weren’t going to be the best option.

I also didn’t like the referencing question being on there, but it was only worth 2 marks.  I don’t really see that it’s the most relevant question for the subject.

Not sure if it’s just me, because I don’t think it bothered the kids as much as it did myself, but the length of some of the multiple choice questions seemed excessive.  I don’t like the idea of having to read an whole page worth of content for a 1 mark question.  Maybe this is something that VCAA can look at in coming years.

All in all I think it was an exam that would allow many students to do quite well.

Hi  everyone,

I thought I would get the ball rolling discussing the Informatics exam...

I thought it was challenging but fair. However, my students had varied opinions ranging from easy to hard! Oh well!

I liked how the new content was included and covered eg hypothesis, UFDs, project management, data analytics, etc.

The project management question, without predecessors identified, would have made the students think.

Normalisation and Ethics questions were achievable.

It was quite long in comparison to the practice exams (especially for reading the questions)  but most students said they finished the paper.

Multiple Choice Questions 3, 11 and 16 caused the most discussion.

What did others think?
