[Informatics] Gantt Project Planner using Excel

I’ve been using Gantter successfully it with my Year 11 and 12.

Not only does it do the job better, it is as close as I can find to what the students might have to use in the workplace without investing ~$600 on Microsoft Project.

Also integrates with Google Drive, so they can tick the collaboration box as well.

One work of warning: save and save often. If you lose connection to the internet it may not allow the student to save, in which case they will need to export to a local file and re-upload.

Thanks for the idea, Frank.

In the past I've battled using Excel experimentally for Gantt (albeit without a template), and have never found it very satisfactory.

The problems with using Excel for Gantt, as I see them are:
- is that it's very much harder to update a chart
- there are no dependency arrows
- it cannot easily calculate extra goodies such as total project length, resource double-bookings
- it cannot identify a critical path
- it can't switch to a PERT view

I found that a free and simple dedicated program<https://www.ganttproject.biz/>, online service<https://ganttpro.com>, Google plugin<https://www.smartapp.com/gantterforgoogledrive> or app<https://asana.com/apps/instagantt> does the job better, faster, and more easily. (The links are only examples, not necessarily recommendations).

Cheers
Mark

Hi everyone
Came across this template in MS Excel 2013 online a little different but perfect for what is required for the SAT.
A Little late but perhaps something to play with and future use.
