[Informatics] Semester 1 Reporting

Hi Margaret,
By the time we complete semester 1 reports at our school, we would also have had to provide the overall result for Criterion 1-4 into VASS for the SAT. Therefore we would have a score out of 40 by which we could provide reporting information for our students.
I understand for some schools the deadline would be tighter (for reporting numbers) and therefore there may not be an ability to provide meaningful feedback, so in those cases, an indicative S or N sounds wise.

Hi all
A change of topic and hoping not already covered.
What are people putting on their semester one reports for Unit 3 Outcome 2?
Are you just putting a progress S/N and making note that the SAT isn’t completed until Semester 2 or leaving it off all together?
regards
Margaret Graham

True I have said min of 100 as it is more difficult to collect data in a smaller country town some students are using more

I have been 'pushing / insisting / hinting / arm-waving' for at least 200 data points. Anything less could be a form of statistical torture upon the data analysis.

Hi Scott and Group
It would be hard to put an exact number on it?
I would assume enough data to support and otherwise their hypothesis, a critical part is depending on their topic how much data is available?
The students have to choose but I have led my students toward things they have come up with and where they could find the data.
Interesting to see what the rest of the group thinks?

Didn’t get a reply so though I’d try again.
How may records are people suggesting that students collect for their data? What is a reasonable number to be able to manipulate and base a conclusion on?
Thanks,
Scott

Apologies if this has already been answered somewhere but I’m just wondering what sort of numbers of records students should be looking at for each data set?
i.e. how many unique pieces of data in each set?
Thanks,
