Hi All,
I'm also a little curious as too how much assistance we are too provide to students through this process. My two classes all now have their hypothesis and are all deep into the stages of collecting their data. Last lesson I detailed what they need to complete for their Scope and Constraints, along with the Gantt Chart in it's preliminary stages (i'm also using the checklist that was provided on here, but obviously modified it somewhat to suit my classes). I am at the stage now where I'm demonstrating to them how to put all of these stages into a report using the sample SAT report in the DLTV resource kit. How much assistance is everyone providing? I don't want to hold their hand but because this is both new to them and myself however I don't want to throw them in the deep end either. A lot of them are struggling to grasp the concept of actually having to be organised and responsible for sorting through mountains of data they are collecting.
Cheers

Hello All,
Filemaker Pro has severe limitations with statistics, especially measures of central tendency. No modefunction standard deviation etc.
How are Filemaker users planning to get around this when students come to analysing and manipulating SAT data?
As far as I can discern the Study Design says that an RDBMS must be used for this. So Excel not an option?

Hi Donald
U3O1 requires a RDBMS.
U3O2 calls for "Appropriate tool for documenting project plans. Software tools to capture, store, prepare and manipulate data" (study design p.28)
No database is specified.
I'd say Excel would be the tool of choice for most people.

?Hello Jordyn,
?
I was planning to hand my students a checklist like the one we were shown on the PD we went to - please see attached.

Hi all,
My students have developed their hypotheses and have just about finished the project plan. We are now looking at how to do the report and some of them are a little anxious as they are not sure of exactly what should be on the report. I?ve shown them examples of what the report could look like and also shown them the criteria, thinking they would be able to work out what needs to be on the report from there.
Would it be considered undue assistance if I gave them a checklist of things they need to include or if I gave them headings to use on the report?
