Just a curiosity: the @ symbol is called an *Affenschwanz* in German. And
*aapstert* in Afrikaans.
Both literally means "monkey's tail" which is a nice description of its
appearance - a monkey with its tail curled around it.
In Welsh it is *malwen *(snail)
In Hungarian,*kukac* (worm or maggot)

But in English it appears to have no other name than the "at sign".
