Hi,
It’s also about the portrayal and change in reality of an “IT career”, which has gone from a solid reputable job in a blue chip company – “go to work 9-5” to a 24-7 job that you may not have the skills for, and therefore will be filled through either outsourcing or offshoring. The image is of a very temporary job rather than solid, contract-based rather than fixed term.
If you want security in work, don’t get into technologies – that’s the message.
The fact is though that in the 21st century economy the concept of job security is one that only a few occupations possess, and the knowledge of the information technologies provides the ability to leverage skills in other areas, and the ability in tough economic times, to create your own job providing data and information management skills and services.
This is what we need to promote as teachers in this area.
Lucas

Yes what a shame but the cycle returns 80’s and 90’s teach the kids how to use technology, 2000’s cut them loose incorporate technology everywhere then bring it back in 2017 as Digital Technologies.

Interesting to see the IT subjects on a fairly consistent decline since early 2000s

Hi everyone,
At the link below there is a nice little bar chart infograph about Olympics cost and % over-runs.
But rather than side by side bar charts, there are radio buttons to swap from one chart to the other.
The link came from the Infogram newsletter, and so I assume this type of infographic can be done in Infogram somehow.

Infogram Insights: A study from Oxford University found that the Rio 2016 games will cost $4.6 billion, or an overrun of 51 percent.
