[Informatics] Number of 'IT' studies?

Hey Richard, this was in the Year 10 VTAC guide distributed recently (http://www.vtac.edu.au/pdf/publications/vtac_year10_guide.pdf ):


*        At most two results from any of the English, Mathematics, History, Contemporary Australian Studies, Information Technology, Languages and Music study areas can contribute to the primary four.


*        At most three results from any of the English, Mathematics, History, Contemporary Australian Studies, Information Technology, Languages and Music study areas can contribute to the ATAR, whether they are VCE results, Higher Education study results, or VET results.

And according to http://www.vtac.edu.au/pdf/publications/factsheets/Study_Groupings.pdf :
Information Technology studies
* Algorithmics (HESS)
* Computing
               * Informatics
* Software Development
* IT Applications*
* Information Systems*
* Information Processing and Management*
* Information Technology in Society*
* VCE VET Information and Communications Technology
* any Information Technology Higher Education study

So the Digital Media doesn't count I'm guessing? It's only if the student does Informatics, SD and VET ICT (or Algorithmics) that all three can't count for primary 4? Anyone who knows more, feel free to correct.

Hi,

I have a recollection of there being some limitation on the number of studies in a given learning area that could contribute to a VCE score. This is the second year I have taught Year 12 IT Apps/Informatics, so this hasn't been an issue yet. We also run a VET Interactive Digital Media program here, doing Cert II in Year 10 and Cert III in Year 11. I have had some enquiries as to whether we might run Software Development as well, so am wondering if there is a problem if a student decides to do Informatics, Software Development as well as the VET course. Does this mean one subject will not count towards a study score?
