Hi all,
Gapminder http://www.gapminder.org/videos/ is a great example of how presenting data in an engaging way can challenge common myths and drive UN development goals. The videos are great and also explain how data is collected and presented.
On a side note I’m a new teacher to IT (thrown in the deep end) so really appreciate this forum already!
Mark

Great to note how we are embracing for two outcomes, the assessment and learning power of a SAT vs a SAC. Touch base with an arts teacher for a chat about this.

PS: Crikey, yesterday's Superquiz in @theage had a database manipulation trivia question about SQL. Bring it on!

Thanks Paula/James,

I’m looking forward to seeing some interesting work. IMO this is how assessment tasks should be.

Each student does their own work - their own hypothesis hence their own data sets.

Hello Infomaniacs,

I need some clarification for Area of Study 2……………

Q’s

Do students develop their hypotheses based on a selection of data sets the teacher has ‘suggested’ based on an agreed theme?

OR

Do students source their own data then develop a hypothesis?
Put bluntly. Do the class all work on the same theme or conduct their own individual investigations on many and varied possible themes?
